Comfort was the first thing that registered in Colton Mercer's mind as he unknowingly came into consciousness. Before he even opened his eyes a smile pushed its way into his lips. Hazel eyes appeared from behind his lids, and he blinked, letting a low yawn escape. He was lying on his stomach, but he wasn't quite touching the mattress. Not completely, anyway. His head and upper torso were resting on the body of another human being. His arms were carelessly on tops of hers, fingers intertwined on both hands. For a moment, he merely stayed like that, closing his eyes and planting a soft kiss on the skin of her back. The young woman underneath of him was none other than his beautiful fiancé, Eden Lucitania. Waking up like this wasn't exactly a rarity, but he treasured it every time. Finally, he pushed himself up slightly and moved his lips to the side of her face, kissing it playfully, and slipping his arms around her tightly. When she awoke, he moved his lips to hers. Pulling away enough to speak, he grinned against her lips. "Good morning. Did you sleep well? I certainly did." Sliding to the side, he faced her, wrapping his arms around her again and laying his head against hers. With the way he'd woken up, he was hoping that it was an indication of how the rest of the day would go. Yes, he did wake up beside her every morning. Though, he couldn't say that he woke up to her wearing nothing but the bedsheets. Those were usually the particularly good days. As per usual, the two spent a few minutes whispering that they loved each other and pretending that there was nothing and no one else in the world. However, all good things must come to an end, and after whining a bit, Colton finally pushed himself up. They needed to get their say started, after all. It looked to be somewhat busy. Mostly making sure that their wedding preparations were complete. The date itself was drawing incredibly close, and the both of them were getting a little antsy about everything being ready on time. For Colton, the feeling of excitement only increased with each passing day. Most men would be starting to have seconds thoughts by this point, but Colton had never had a single second thought about their relationship before. Why on Earth would he start now? Especially when he knew that this was where he wanted to be? With Eden. As long as she was there by his side, he'd be happy.

Eden Lucitania couldn't describe the way she lived for mornings like this. When she woke, she was nestled comfortably in Colton Mercer's arms, and her sleepy mind vaguely wondered how in the world life could get any better than this. She felt his warm breath on the skin of her cheek just before he kissed it, and she smiled, pressing herself close to him when he adjusted them. Her eyes opened lazily, and she gave him a sleep smile, a hand coming up to rub her eyes, before giving him a kiss. This was what she lived for. This man that was holding her in his arms. Her heart swelled in her chest, and she gave a soft laugh, "I slept very well." She confirmed, leaning in to kiss him again as they lingered in the bed together. Her skin was soft against his, the brushing of the fingers and lips the sweetest music in her ears. Her handsome, loving, perfect fiance. The words brought the biggest smile to her lips as he whined a bit before getting himself out of bed. She followed soon after, stretching, and went to get ready. They played around in the bathroom a little, before hopping into the shower together, where they took their own sweet time bathing each other very thoroughly. After they finished getting ready, they agreed on grabbing something from one of their favorite little restaurants before going about their day. The wedding was so soon, they were starting to finalize things. Eden felt ridiculously excited every time she thought about it. Her fingers toyed with the gorgeous engagement ring, before her hand went to rest in it's rightful place, intertwined with Colton's. She squeezed gently, turning her head to give him that bright and loving smile she reserved only for him. She was just thinking about how it was going to be an amazing day when she heard the screech of tires. The car jerked as Colton slammed on the brakes, and her body rammed forward against the seatbelt as metal crunched metal. A scream left her lips, but it was lost to the sound of destruction as their car wrapped around someone elses. Eden's breath suddenly left her when she felt something like a punch just below her shoulder, except much more painful. It pinned her to the back of the seat while the car continued to spin, and as the glass shattered, she clenched her eyes shut, crying out when the thing that punched her jerked her painfully. The pain caused white spots to flood her vision, and as the car jerked to a stop, her head collided with the side of the car door. She struggled to remain conscious, her hands fluttering up as she noted with horror the metal beam that was now impaling her body. Eden's breathing was strangely labored as her hands fell back to her lap, and she weakly looked to the side to try and see Colton, to make sure he was okay, but before it could happen, her vision went black and her body slumped around the pole that was impaling her. As she passed into the darkness, Colton's name left her lips in a faint whisper, her heart aching with pain, his face in her mind as consciousness wandered away from her.

Colton had never really been a morning person. He would always prefer to sleep in until noon and stay up to ungodly hours of the night. And then there was his time suffering from cancer, when he would be sleeping on and off throughout the entire day. However, if there was one thing about Eden Lucitania, she got up early. Lately, he'd been learning to get up early as well. It may have been a painful task, had he not had something to wake up for. Coincidentally, that something was the reason he woke up so early in the first place, anymore. Eden made the horridly early mornings not so horrid at all. Seeing her face and hearing her laugh was a million times better than any dream he could have had, anyway. So, as they got up and went through their routine, showing together to conserve water, of course, he couldn't help the smile on his face the entire time. It was so surreal, thinking that in just a few weeks time, he and Eden would be joined in holy matrimony. The young man had never dreamed he would be getting married so young, but he knew it was the right thing. She was the right thing. After the shower, they managed to get dressed amidst him hindering their efforts every two seconds by meeting her lips with his. He really couldn't help it, she was just so damn beautiful. It was challenging to stay away from her for any length of time. If you paid attention to them, it was easy to see that they were almost always touching in some way. Even as they drove down the road, her hand was in his on the arm rest, a customary position whenever they were in the car. That is, until Colton turned to see a car speeding towards them, completely ignoring a stop sign. He slammed on the brakes, but he could tell that they wouldn't stop in time. in a split second, the jerk of the other car slamming into theirs sent his body to the door. Pain erupted, as he struggled to keep hold of the steering wheel. Eden's screams mixed in with the crunching of metal on metal. The few seconds that it took them to spin and stop felt like a year. Suddenly, he jerked forward, his forehead violently running into the wheel. Stars swam in front of his vision, as he blinked, trying to focus. He could feel unconsciousness gripping at him, but her fought it. He needed to make sure Eden was alright. Painfully turning his head, he caught sight of something that made the air leave his lungs. A piece of something big was sticking out from his beloved fiancé. Wait. What was that? It couldn't possibly be piercing her heart, could it? Oh no. No, no, no. "Eden..." He called in a weak voice. She remained unmoving and he feared the worst. "Eden." It was then that he could no longer keep himself awake, and blackness was all that he knew.
The next thing he knew, there were flashes of light. Voices speaking an alien language filtered into his ears. Faces that blurred together were on his vision. Then there was darkness once more. When he opened his eyes again, he saw nothing but a mass of white. After blinking several times, he realized it to be a ceiling. And just like that, all of his memories from the morning came rushing back to him. The pain in his body soon followed and he flinched from everything. Eden. Where was Eden? The last image he had of her was frightening, sickening even. He just needed to know she was alright. Turning his head, he found a blonde mass coming at him. It took his mind a second to realize that Tegan was there. "Tegan." He managed to say in a low, broken voice. "Tegan, is Eden okay? Eden. Please, tell me she's okay." He gazed at her worried face, ignoring anything else she'd said, focusing on that question only. Her response both shocked and scared him. She didn't know? What did she mean, she didn't know? She wasn't at the hospital. Then, where was she? They hadn't taken her to the... no, he wouldn't let himself think it. "I don't understand. She was hurt. She'd need to be here. She... I have to find her! I have to..." He then began to get up, ignoring the pain coursing through his body at the action. He needed to know where Eden was. He needed to see her. Right that very second.

when tegan got the call that Colton was in the hospital after a car accident, she had panicked. what the fuck was up with all the car accidents lately? shed recently just recovered from one of her own, and now Colton? her heart clenched in her chest as she jumped into the car. while she drove, she pondered. why had the hospital calked? Eden surely knew by now... why hadn't she called? suddenly, she was even more afraid. Eden must have been hurt. she pulled unto the parking lot and raced out of her car and into the hospital. she asked at the desk first for Colton, then for Eden. they gave her coltons room number but drew a blank for Eden. panic lanced through her, and she asked them to recheck - still nothing. tegan anxiously asked if there was any way to find out where exactly she was, and they said they would check other hospitals and find her immediately. with a heavy heart, she went to check on her best friend. as she entered the room, he was just awakening. tegan rushed over to him, bending over him anxiously, "colt? you okay? do you need anything?" his response was eden's name, and she felt her heart sink. "I don't.. I don't know where she is, Colton. she's not in this hospital. " she anxiously watched as he tried to get up. she put her hands on his shoulders and pushed him back down into the bed, "Colton, stop it. I'll find her, okay? lay down. you're not going to be any good to her if you can barely stand up straight." her tone would be harsh, but anxious. she hoped they found out where she was soon. no sooner than she finshed the thought, the woman she had spoken to before came into the room. tegan walked over to her, asking her of she found anything in a hushed voice. the woman told her that Eden was in a hospital downtown, just out of surgery and in the ICU. tegan nodded her head, thanking the woman, before turning back to Colton. she walked over to him, saying softly, "they said she's at the hospital downtown, in the ICU. she just got out of surgery." she relayed, eyeing him nervously, ready to push him down if she needed to.
